Brothers & Sisters Episode Online

For those of you who missed it last night (or forgot to set the DVR) the season finale of Brothers & Sisters is currently posted online. You'll probably have to install ABC's proprietary player, but that's fairly quick and simple.

My scene comes in around the 9:30 mark. It's quick and fun.

Following the cut are a couple of screenshots...

"Die Schaufel, bitte?"

"Thomas?"

"THIS... is Thomas."

Thank you so much to everyone for your comments, calls, emails, and support. It's been a crazy journey out here in LA, but your encouragement helps make it all worthwhile.

-Tom, who's going to try to work his own name into every scene he does from now on.

I am almost certain I can't watch it here in Europe, but I am so happy for you! This is insanely cool. So you were a cult-worker?

“Thomas? ... This is Thomas!” For many in the audience, this line served little more than to deepen the mystery surrounding Sally Field’s son. This dirt is Thomas? What the hell does that mean? Did the Mexican cult kill him and bury him? But for those of us—this reviewer included—who have been watching the arc of Mr. Lommel’s career, those few words declaim so much more, forming an existential statement of arrival. Thomas? … This is Thomas! Translation: Tom? This is Tom! I am Tom, and I am here! Here in the earth! Here in the grass! Here on this studio lot intended to resemble Mexico but which we all know is L.A.! Being from Minnesota, I am German and I know how to use this shovel! And you will be seeing more of me in the future.

Søren - It was more of a commune, though the family thought it was a cult.

Juice - I'm commissioning you to do the liner notes when Criterion releases its six-volume retrospective of my career.

Tom,

I caught it live (er, recorded, er, broadcast...oh you know, on that telephonevision case thing that people used to have in their homes to watch the internet, you know!) last night. That was so great!

Does this make you eligible for the Battle of the Network Stars if I can finally get my wand of "Raise Howard Cosell" to work?

Because the only two elements that classic show was missing was Tom Lommel and zombies.

Oh btw: I totally thought it was a cult at first. When you showed up, I was sort of hoping you were going to ad-lib some bulbous eyes and gills, and that the show would have been re-launched next year as Brothers & Sisters & Cthulhu, starring Tom Lommel.

But the whole "owning one's sins" theme was nice too.

But boy it would have been very metatheatrical if, in fact, you had been the one responsible for burying the corpse of "Thomas" in that ditch.

I got such a kick out of that. Way to go! Please don't retire on your big payday, though. It'll break your heart to know that Eddie and the Cruisers III: The Re-vanishing will be based on your reclusive tendencies.

I'm glad you enjoyed it so much!

Those are two great pitches, I'll talk to my producer friend who has an "in" with the Sci-Fi network. ...Although now that it's spelled "Scy-Fy" I wouldn't get my hopes up.

This was so totally cool! Congratulations!
Not only did you have lines to speak, you got to make faces! Ultimate coolness! Congrats again to one hell of a good guy!

Congrat Tom! How very IRONIC you were yelling Thomas! I just want to go on record stating"Move the damn PLANTS, I want to see Tom's face again."
Overall looked great to me. I think you can do TV.
Also were you listed in the credits, the network here shrunk them to baby size!
# Posted By LaVonne Lommel | 5/11/09 3:39 PM
I was in the credits at the end, after all the producers. Pretty standard for that type of role. You have to negotiate anything else.

Even though I don't own a TV, I did go to a friend's house to watch this. Excellent job! If you can get yourself onto 3-4 weekly shows I might actually have to get a TV.

Doobis, if I get onto 3-4 weekly shows I will BUY you a TV.
# Posted By Tom | 5/11/09 4:36 PM
Tom Lommel......are you going to be the first TV star I know personally?
# Posted By pat gard | 5/11/09 4:48 PM
Not at all. You may not be aware, but a certain JOE Lommel appears on cable channels across Goodhue County every week in his recurring role as President of the Library Board.

You want to see talent at work, you need to tune into THAT!

Congrats man! I am glad to see your hard work is paying off! Achieving the dream feels so good.

I owe you a pint at Gen-Con.

President of the Library Board... And you're just telling me this NOW? I have GOT to meet HIM!

"Only viewers in the United States can watch these full-length episodes." So much for "Supporting the Troops" there, ABC.com. ;)
# Posted By Alan | 5/12/09 2:15 AM
ABC can't fix that, but I can, Alan.

Anything special you want from the States since I'm putting a package together anyhow?
# Posted By Tom | 5/12/09 7:45 AM
Tom, The way you handled that shovel...Brother Ole says you'll always have a job waiting for you at Olson Bros Construction. Concrete--it's in your blood!

Tell Buckethead that Flash says "Hi."
# Posted By Tom | 5/12/09 8:35 AM
That's why you are the man, Tom.
# Posted By Alan | 5/12/09 8:36 AM
Way cool! Tom, you are so versatile and so fun to watch. You should be on SNL (I hope you've applied.)

Go Tom Go!

Why are there Germans in Mexico? Is there are future role for you as Karl on the show? I feel a lot was left on the cutting room floor.
# Posted By Paul | 5/12/09 10:17 AM
I was wondering the same things, Paul. Since the story left Tommy (the character) in Mexico with the commune, that there is a chance it could be revisited next year (assuming the show is picked up). As for germans in Mexico? I can't even guess.
# Posted By Dave M. | 5/12/09 10:38 AM
I don't know that the storyline will come back to Mexico, and I'd be somewhat surprised if they brought back my character even if it did. (Although I'd love to work on that show again.)

To clarify, they were trying to give the commune an international vibe. The guy who says "Okay! Thank you!" before me is supposed to be Swedish.

There wasn't much of anything left on the cutting room floor, although the Swedish guy was originally supposed to interject "Okay! Thomas!" at one point. I feel kind of bad about that because I jumped his cue in one of the takes.

On the other hand, he schmoozed his way into sitting at Rob Lowe's table for lunch, so it's probably a wash.
