Appointment Destination: SPECK
# # # FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE # # #
[HAMBURG, GERMANY] In 1993, electronic German dub band Appointment Destination toured five countries in three days. The success of their barnstorm tour through Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and the women's prison in Aichach, Bavaria would never be duplicated.
But Appointment Destination never concerned themselves with popularity or material gain, they doggedly pursued their own unique artistic vision. For ten years, band founder Gerhard Schinkenspeise holed up in his small flat in Lütjenburg and lived as a musical hermit, crafting densely-layered compositions on his Amiga 1200.
Many ardent fans worried that this artistic genius would go unappreciated, that Schinkenspeise would never release the ripe fruit blossoming on the tree of his musical genius.
Today, fans can set those worries aside.
Freed by the internet from the burdens of profit or mainstream success, Appointment Destination is releasing its first album in 15 years - directly to the fans.
"Ja, it was time," said Gerhard Schinkenspeise in a statement to the Holsteinische Allegemeine. "I look at what Radiohead or Nine-Inch Nails has done, and I think, I do this. I vill be the Trent Reznor of Lütjenburg."
In a bold move, the 24 tracks of the high-concept album will be released for free. "Some less artistically-minded individuals believe in 'pay what you can,'" explains Schinkenspeise, "That is a great business model... For community theater. I believe in play what you can. You see: I am not a whore."
The first single from "Unersetzliche Gummischmerzen" is available for immediate download on the worldwide web. Schinkenspeise would not speculate when the full album would be released. "Frankly, I would like to gauge the worth of the endeavor on how this single is received by the fans. Also, there are some minor technical difficulties. If anyone can read a 5 1/4" floppy disk, please contact me."

"Ve still do not tour," says Gerhard Schinkenspeise. "But, maybe, you know... ve might... maybe ve do a corporate gig. If you make a company party, call me. I am the only Schinkenspeise in Lütjenburg."
