Game On

With the NBA finals beginning tonight (Lakers in 6 kids, don't bet against the president) this also marks the debut of a brand new website I'm proud to be a part of: Get Your Basketball On with Leroy Smith.

Leroy is the mastermind who motivated legend Michael Jordan. Or - as Leroy calls himself - a mastervator.

You see, in his sophomore year of high school, Michael Jordan was cut from the varsity team. Leroy Smith is the man who took his place - and thus motivated Michael to become the greatest basketball player of all time.

Catch me as dogged reporter Grant Whittaker in this fascinating series of interviews that explores the genius of Leroy Smith, and his unconventional -- some would say CONTROVERSIAL -- approach to motivation.

Click the thumbnails below to view the YouTube segments that comprise this hard-hitting piece of investigative journalism.

By far one of the coolest projects I have been involved in. -Grant Whittaker, who would like to close this segment with one word: COURAGE.

Leroy looks so like Eddie Murphy that it's uncanny.

Probably missing the boat completely, but he does.

What a cool project to have been in, Tom! Congrats!

Yeah, he could almost be Eddie Murphy's brother.

Weird, huh?

Really? He visited Denmark a few months ago, doing a stand-up gig.

It must be popular, I can't even get the videos to play.
Looking forward to it though.

I have a little brain in my heart, too. :-)

This is great! Congratulations!

Manny loves sewing!

This project is hilarious! (Although did you mention to the producers at the time that the premise is basically Fear of Basketball? You didn't? I guess that's why they pay you the Big Bucks of Discretion.)

Leroy's not the mastervator, Tom.

You are.

Grant Whitaker, by the way, looks a lot like you. You ought to add him to your list of look-a-likes. He isn't played by your older, slightly less famous brother, is he?

You guys are a great team. I hope there's a sequel in the works.

Very cool Tom. GW is an SNL quality news-nerd character.

What the heck does this advertise?

Looks great, Tom!

Where does the genius come from? Red Wing, that's where!

Is it OK if I mention that sportingnews.com has revealed this as a Nike viral video starring Eddie Murphy's older brother Charlie?

Gee, thanks Elee!

Juice - Don't ask me. You'll have to answer to LeRoy Smith.

Don't be surprised if the last words you hear are "SHAZAM!"
